Deprem Radar Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data the Deprem Radar mobile app (Android and iOS) collects, how it is used and shared, and how you can delete it. By using the app you agree to this policy.
1. Location data
- What we collect: your device location (approximate and precise). If you allow it, location is also collected in the background (when the app is closed or not in use).
- Why: to find earthquakes near you, calculate their distance and the estimated arrival time of the waves, and to alert you about nearby earthquakes even when the app is closed.
- How it is processed: your location is processed and stored only on your device. It is not sent to our servers, never sold and never used for advertising.
- Exception: when you share a "Felt it / Didn't feel it" report, your approximate region (district/province/country name) and approximate coordinates are stored in Firebase Firestore with your report and shown to other users.
- You can revoke the location permission at any time in your phone settings; alerts based on your location will then not work.
2. Account information (optional)
- You can use the app without signing in. To share reports you can sign in with Google or Apple (Firebase Authentication).
- On sign-in we receive your name, email address and profile photo. Your email address is never shown to other users.
3. Earthquake reports
- A report stores your answer, name, profile photo, approximate region, country, approximate coordinates, the earthquake magnitude, an optional comment (max. 280 characters), the time and a random app-specific device ID.
- Reports are shown publicly to other signed-in users on the in-app "Latest status" page. Before your first report the app clearly tells you this and asks for your consent.
4. Advertising
- The app shows ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect the advertising ID (Android Advertising ID / iOS IDFA if permitted), device and interaction information and IP address to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. See Google's advertising policies. You can turn off ad personalization in your device settings.
5. Notifications, camera/flashlight and other permissions
- Notifications and full-screen alerts: to show sound/vibration alerts and a full-screen earthquake screen for nearby earthquakes.
- Camera (flashlight only): used to turn the torch on and off on the SOS screen; no photos or videos are taken.
- SOS message: only when you choose, your location is put into a message that you send via SMS or WhatsApp; the app does not send it for you.
6. Earthquake data and third parties
- Earthquake lists come from public sources such as USGS, EMSC, AFAD, JMA, BMKG, GeoNet, INGV, NOA, SED, RéNaSS, NRCan, BGS, SSN, CSN, Geoscience Australia and GFZ. No personal data is sent in these requests (some sources are queried only with region boundaries).
- Service providers: Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore), Google AdMob, Google Maps. They process data under their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data.
7. Retention and deletion
- Your reports and profile are kept until you delete them.
- Delete in the app: Settings → Account → "Delete my account and data". Your account, profile and all your reports are permanently deleted.
- If you cannot do this in the app, email cahitcagil01@gmail.com from the address you signed in with; requests are handled within 30 days.
- Data on your device (last location, settings, earthquake cache) is removed when you uninstall the app.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Firestore security rules ensure users can only modify or delete their own reports.
9. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.
10. Changes and contact
This policy may be updated; the current version is always on this page. Questions: cahitcagil01@gmail.com
